Texas Is America's No. 1 Growth State — What It Means for Rockwall County
Texas continues to lead the nation in growth, and that momentum flows straight into Rockwall County. Here's what it means for local buyers and sellers.
Texas keeps doing what Texas does best — growing. Year after year, the U.S. Census Bureau ranks Texas at or near the top of the nation for population gains, and a large share of that momentum lands right here in the Dallas–Fort Worth area and Rockwall County.
My brokerage, Ebby Halliday, recently broke down why Texas remains the country’s leading growth state. You can read the full report on Ebby.com. Here’s my take on what it means if you’re buying or selling close to home.
Why People Keep Choosing Texas
The reasons families and companies keep moving here are consistent: a strong, diversified job market, no state income tax, a lower cost of living than the coasts, plenty of new housing, and a quality of life that’s hard to beat. Major corporate relocations to North Texas continue to bring high-paying jobs — and the people who fill them need places to live.
What It Means for Rockwall County
Rockwall is already one of the fastest-growing counties in the nation (U.S. Census Bureau), and statewide growth only adds fuel. Buyers are drawn to lakefront living on Lake Ray Hubbard, top-rated Rockwall ISD schools, a walkable historic downtown, and an easy I-30 commute to Dallas — all with more space and value than you’ll find closer in.
For Buyers
Steady demand means well-located homes don’t sit long. My advice: get fully pre-approved before you tour, know your non-negotiables, and consider newer communities in Royse City and Fate if resale inventory is tight in your range. Working with a locally connected agent gives you access to coming-soon and off-market homes before they hit the major sites.
For Sellers
Growth keeps demand strong. Well-priced, well-presented Rockwall County homes are selling in a median of around 50 days at roughly 99% of asking price (NTREIS, 2024–2025). The right pricing and marketing strategy still make all the difference.
The Bottom Line
Texas’s growth story isn’t slowing down, and Rockwall County sits right in the path of it. Whether you’re planning a move this year or just want to understand what your home is worth in today’s market, I’d love to help.
